I've lived in NY all my life, and as much as I
know I belong here, I also know that something
has happened to the population. I don't mean
ethnically, I mean mentally.
Melvin Udall's (Jack
Nicholson) description of how he wrote women so
well in As
Good As It Gets, is, 'I think of a man,
and I take away reason and accountability.'
Well, I think that describes most of the people
in Greater New York. They go through their
lives acting on "what should be"
rather than "what is," they solve
problems by "caring" about them, rather than
fixing them. Then they
get all ticked off because things didn't work
out as "they should have." The
closest I come to wanting to personally do
physical harm to someone is when I hear someone
say, "it's not fair." I'll only
excuse a child under 8 for that remark. |

Those years in prison have helped me to keep my
cool around the a-holes that populate of the
metropolitan area, and that's how I'm still able
to live in New York. Guys in the can have
life and death issues to worry about each day,
so they're forced to think straight.
I once told a woman I was dating not to flaunt
her jewelry in the subway, she said to me, "I
want to show it off, what's the purpose of
having it if I can't show it off?" You
never hear a guy in the can say, "If I drop my
soap in the shower, I have a right to bend down
and pick it up." In the joint you learn to
deal with reality, or being a victim. And
that's brings us to my love of film.
First of all I love movies
about extraordinary things. When I watch a
movie, I don't want it to be about something I
can be doing myself, instead of watching the movie.
If I care about something, I'll go do it, not
watch a bunch of people pretending that they're doing it.
I love a good story, good
characters, surprises, and that's why I love
movies, and books and bars, too.
I'm not one of those people who want it to be yesterday, I
like today, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow.
I just would like people to be more reasonable, to
use common sense, be
more consistent. Or move to Canada.

"I enjoy all types of movies from romantic comedies to suspense dramas. I
appreciate well-written scripts. I especially like true stories of one
person's triumph over the system.
Movies can take you to countries you may never have a chance to visit, and
transport you into people's lives you will never otherwise get to
experience.
They put you in the driver's seat to "be" the characters for a short while.
When you come out of the theatre you either have something to think about in
your own life, or you have forgotten your own problems for a time.
Movies over the years have reflected society and shown us ourselves in a
unique and memorable way. They have taught us history. They have shown us
the stories behind historical events.
Movies have taught us to laugh at ourselves, and to not take life too
seriously.
And they have taken us on wonderful trips into the imagination."
So that is my bio!
