Mark,
I'd just like to say that I found your review on Armitage:
Polymatrix very insightful and true. Just like you growing
up with Ranma 1/2 and 8 Man After, I grew up watching this
at the age of 11; I am now 19.
All the best,

Armitage III: Polymatrix is a lot like Ghost in the Shell, but with more
of a Star
Wars/Total Recall flavor than a Blade
Runner. Armitage is a robot cop (in the form of a
young woman) who is chasing after the murderer of high
profile robots on Mars. Her newly transferred,
earthling partner, Sylibus, a human cop with cybernetic limbs, is a
straight-arrow. Together they take on deadly criminals and
explore Armitage's origin. The journey leads them to an intergalactic
conspiracy that they must fight alone.

| The
film has a lot of action, but there are pauses in the
action in order to explain the plot and the science.
I like this method of storytelling because it gives you
the feeling of watching a mystery unfold, rather than
giving you the impression that the heroes are simply
fighting their way to the answers (although, let's face
it, they are).
So how is it? In a word: great. It's a fun,
sci-fi action film
with some nice visuals. The setting is well
thought-out and the action and "acting" is in the
traditional anime style. It doesn't bite off more than
it can chew; it's an action movie with all the elements
for good anime. |

Also worth mentioning is the great techno
soundtrack. If you love techno, or Armitage III,
then you need to own the soundtrack. We sell it in
our store.
In the end, I
have to say that I liked its style and I recommend it
highly both for anime fans, and anyone who is simply
interested in the medium. It makes for a good
example of a good, typical anime.
