Reviews:
Two
Balls and One Out: Baseketball
by
Michael Flanagan
Solid
The first thing you should know or remember is
that yes, there is male kissing.
Clear, obvious male kissing (with tongue) that
lasts longer than a truth-or-dare gone wrong moment.
Are the two men out?
Or is it a home run?
Well, it’s definitely a three-pointer with
the possibility of stealing home!
Matt Stone and Trey Parker star in Baseketball,
an intelligent comedy about sports, women, love, and dude.
Parker and Stone create a sport that combines
baseball, basketball, and insulting people and the
results are hysterical.
The film is at times slow, and some of the
jokes may reach a very far end of the spectrum that
certain viewers may not appreciate (locker room male
nudity . . . I didn’t really appreciate it, but I
could relate), but the two creators of South Park
bring so much character and energy to the movie that
it’s almost impossible not to like them, regardless
of how disgusting they may be.
Baseketball is one of those movies that
should be watched at a party where the maturity level
is somewhere between a pubescent boy and a Harvard
graduate. And
it’s a damn good time . . . dude.

| Trivia
BASEketball was nominated for two Razzie
Awards. One for Yasmine Bleeth (Worst Actress)
and one for Jenny McCarthy (Worst Supporting Actress).
How about that band at Beers' Stadium? Did
you like them? They're called Reel Big Fish
and the DVD version of this film offers a video they
made (with scenes from the movie) for their remake of
the 80's band Ah-Ha's hit song Take On Me.
If you like Reel Big Fish buy one of their
albums from our store.
Do those names look
familiar? Trey Parker and
Matt Stone are the creators of the highly successful South Park
animated adult comedy series on Comedy Central. They also do the
voices of most of it's cast. Two of those voices, namely Cartman
and Mr. Garrison can be heard in this film. Listen for them.
By the way, these two made other movies. So far, they have made Cannibal,
a Musical; Orgazmo; BASEketball; South Park:
Bigger, Longer, & Uncut.
