Catch Me If You Can
by Jorge Solis
HUGE
Probably one of the most relaxing films ever made.
Surprisingly this film was not made by the guy who did Amistad or
Saving Private Ryan. Steven Spielberg became a different kind of
director with the script written by Jeff Nathanson. The director
and writer have a lot of heart to an entertaining story. The true
story of Frank Abagnale is a about a teenager who pretended to be
a lawyer, a doctor, and a pilot. As he imitated all three, he
stole up to $4 million. Rather than make this all seem wrong, this
film portrays Frank Abagnale, with the help of Leonardo Di Caprio,
as a boy who chose to become a con man because of how he
lived. |

When you think about, how come after Spielberg
made so many movies, he hadn't worked with Christopher Walken or
Martin Sheen. Well now the wait is over. Christopher Walken
looks like he is having a fun time playing Frank Abagnale's
father. He knows what he's saying his wrong but it's the best he
can do as a father. Martin Sheen comes in late but it is Tom
hanks who steals the show. Tom Hanks is a perfect choice for the
no nonsense Carl Hanratty. The best parts of the movie are the
phone conversations between Tom hanks and Leonardo Di Caprio on
Christmas Eve. |
|
| Catch Me If You Can shows a little
bit of how-to-forge a check. If Frank Abagnale could do it, it
sort of makes you wonder what you were doing as a teenager. My
favorite part of the movie is when Leonardo Di Caprio is
watching the James Bond movie. I was the same gawk-eyed
fascinated kid watching that movie. I made that same expression.
You end up rooting for Frank Abagnale in the end. |

SUPER
What a good film!
I recommend this one very highly, the only thing I’ll
warn you about is that it is long, and you do feel it at some
points. Despite
that fact, it is a well-made, well-acted, engrossing and
highly entertaining film.
Knowing it is based on a true story makes it even
better.
Basically, Leonardo Di Caprio plays a
young man from a bankrupt, broken home who finds the means to
survive, and, in fact, thrive by becoming a
counterfeiter/con-man. Tom
Hanks plays the relentless FBI agent obsessed with catching
the boy. The two
play an entertaining cat-and-mouse game all over the country
and beyond.
Side Note: Christopher Walken did a great
job playing the boy’s father.
Anyone who calls himself or herself a Walken fan needs
to see him in this serious and heartbreaking roll which, in my
humble opinion, is worth an Oscar nod. |

SUPER
This is a fun movie. A really, really
great movie. The movie was entertaining as hell,
Christopher Walken was amazing, Tom Hanks told a funny
joke in a Boston accent and I laughed throughout.
See it. That's really all I have to say
about that. |
