HUGE
Liam Neeson brings Alfred Kinsey to life, and you may not like
him. I certainly do not. Kinsey is portrayed as a man of
science, to the exclusion of humanity. We must always be
careful not to take movies as fact, so when I say 'Kinsey was,' I'm
talking about the main character of this film. |
| Kinsey was a man that
researched human behavior at arms-length, meaning he
didn't know anything about human emotion, the spirit or
the soul. He devastated many people and lives
around him, one can only imagine, what happened in the
off screen world that he walks in and out of, and that
his work touched - I'm still talking about the Alfred
Kinsey of the movie, Kinsey. There is a scene
where he matter-of-factly tells his wife about an
experiment he's conducted, that devastates her, His
father, wonderfully played by John Lithgow, is a
domineering, tow-the- line preacher, who he cannot get
along with, but becomes completely in later life.
Albeit, as a 'priest' in a different 'religion.'
I defy you to watch this film and not come away with
deep feelings, emotionally moved. It is not an
easy film to watch, Kinsey is Drama of the first
magnitude.

| I liked it a lot. I gave it a HUGE
mainly because of the quality of the film and the
performances. This is a top shelf film, whether
you like it or not, and I suspect many will be turned
off by it., or find it just too much. Maybe
because of the subject matter, but I find myself
thinking of Quill, with Jeffery Rush. That
too is a film that many will not like, but is very, very
good. I bought this DVD, I think it's excellent. |
