Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man
by Michael Flanagan
It’s basically one of those rock
documentaries, with footage of a Leonard Cohen tribute concert
that took place in Sydney Australia in January of 2005. It also
includes interviews with some of the participants, most notably
and impressively Rufus Wainwright. You may have heard of him,
but if not, check out his albums on this page. Leonard Cohen is
also interviewed extensively.
Wait, who’s Leonard Cohen? Well, off the
top of my head, you see,

Wait, he’s still alive? Yeah, and he had
a pretty big fan base for someone you may never have heard of.
And, chances are, if you haven’t heard of him, you’ve heard
him. Most probably his song Hallelujah, performed by Rufus
Wainwright in this movie and in Shrek. Check out his
imdb page for more.
The guy is good, the music is good, and
this movie is good. Plus it features a track with Cohen
performing with U2 at the end, one of my favorite parts.
And an additional note: The movie is
produced by Icon Productions, Mel Gibson’s company. When his
title came up at the end, right there under “Executive
Producers,” the audience laughed. Oh, and Leonard Cohen is
Jewish.
Thank you New York, see you next time!
