Sorry, I know it has a huge following, but this one was
not one of my favorites. Despite the standard
post-apocalyptic philosophy that defines both Geist
films, I found these films to be violence for its own
sake. That's not to say that I don't enjoy them every
now and then. After all, what's life without a little
senseless violence? Still, when you compare it to other
anime, it falls very short.

The true value of these films lie not with the story or
the art, but with the character, Geist. He is
compelling to the point that you forgive the fact that he is
one of the most monstrous characters ever spawned by anime.
His costume (battle armor) is fantastic, and
the sheer magnificence of his dark presence make him seem
less like a man and more like a force of nature. I've
heard him referred to as "robotic," but I think he
is more like a virus. He lives to create chaos and
destroy life...he seems to feed on it.

He is war, he
is death, he is the quiet but steady hand of doom. He
is M.D. Geist and he's worth watching at least once, but
rent, don't buy.
