The Crow Boxed Set

Remember this?:
"Right now no info is available for the Crow Box Set slated for a March 20, 2001 release but you can order it now for something like 40% off.  Meanwhile I will keep my search going so I can tell you what's on it.  Here's my gut guess though, ready?  It will be a collection of The Crow and it's two sequels with bonus material.  We'll see if I'm right, meanwhile Internet Search King Mike will try to dig up some info too..." -CDM

Well, Internet Search King Mike whipped out his best stuff and did it... within one day of my asking him!  My prediction was right, it will be all three Crow movies together, but we don't know if there will be extra stuff on it.  We'll keep ya posted. - CDM

The Books and
Film Commentaries

The Crow: Shattered Lives & Broken Dreams

This is a pretty cool collection of art, poetry and fiction by some pretty famous people (even Alan Dean Foster, Iggy Pop and Henry Rollins!) about James O'Barr's comic masterpiece, The Crow. - CDM

The Crow : The Lazarus Heart
cover
This is a novel by the very popular Goth fiction writer, Poppy Z. Brite.

These are a few of the Graphic Novels from the series.

And in case you wanted a little movie commentary, here's the story behind the famous and infamous film..

Soundtrack

The Crow: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack
cover

I got this as soon as it came out, it's a very dark and moody soundtrack with some really good stuff on it.  Look for some old Nine Inch Nails, some Violent Femmes, Rollins Band (the very cool comic book track, "Ghost Rider") Helmet, STP and other bands. - CDM

And in case you were wondering, "Hey, What's The Score?"...

Random Fact:  Crow creator James O'Barr wrote the original Crow story right after his girlfriend was killed in a car accident.  He did it as a form of creative catharsis to get out his massive grief and anger at the fact that there was nothing he could do about her death... The Crow was his revenge on Fate.  -CDM

Mark's Movie Info.:

Brandon Lee died during the filming of The Crow due to a blunder on the set. A scene required a gun to be loaded, cocked, and then pointed at the camera. Because of the close-range of the shot, the bullets loaded had real brass caps, but no powder. After the cut, the propsmaster (not the armsmaster - he had left the set for the day) dry-fired the gun to get the cock off, knocking an empty cartridge into the barrel of the gun. The next scene to be filmed involving that gun was the rape of Shelly. The gun was loaded with blanks (which usually contain double or triple the powder of a normal bullet to make a loud noise). Lee entered the set carrying a bag of groceries containing an explosive blood pack. The script called for Funboy, played by Michael Massee, to shoot Lee as he entered the room, triggering the blood pack. The cartridge that was stuck in the barrel was fired at Lee and blasted through the bag he was carrying, killing him. The footage of his death was destroyed without being developed.

Lee was killed before the film was completed.  In order to finish the film, they used digital effects to place Brandon Lee's face on the body of a double, or just avoided shots of his character's face.  They are very difficult to find in the film, proving the good job that the filmmakers did.

Brandon Lee is the son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, who died in mysterious circumstances before completing Game of Death.

Mishaps, besides Brandon Lee's accidental death, plagued this film. During the first day of shooting in Wilmington, North Carolina, a carpenter suffered severe burns after his crane hit live power lines. On subsequent days, a grip truck caught fire, a disgruntled sculptor crashed his car through the studio's plaster shop, and a crew member accidentally drove a screwdriver through his hand. It's amazing to me that they made sequels!
