At no time in this film does a woman speak...ever.
This film was stage actor Peter O'Toole's first film role. He
was nominated for an Academy Award, and won a British Academy Award for
Best British Actor.
T.E. Lawrence is a legendary figure in
modern history. Several different films and books have been made
about him. One film even details a love affair between Lawrence
and a young socialite, but this would probably be a grossly inaccurate
depiction. You see, it is strongly believed by historians that T.E.
Lawrence was homosexual. This is a belief that is not reflected in
any of the films made about his life thus far.
A true desert mirage was filmed in this movie. At one point,
the caravan appears to be walking on air. This effect has been
used often since, but this was the first time a mirage was filmed in a
motion picture.
The original film is 216 minutes long. The Director's cut is
228 minutes long. If you haven't seen the film in a long time rent
the Director's Cut! You'll be glad you did. It's available
