American
Psycho
by Anita Sova
Wimpy
I saw this Movie two years ago.
Unfortunately, there is no real message behind
the violent scenes. The dialogue is rather
superficial for attempting to criticize greed,
consumerism and cynicism in the eighties.
Yes, the visual aspects of the Film are
brilliant, but the movie lacks depth,
intelligence and heart to convince me.
However, it is not the films fault, but rather
the superficial novel. If a novel is weak, then
it can certainly drag down a film. Thankfully
however,
the director was so kind to spare us the
unbearably disgusting scenes of the Novel.
Christian Bale tries to improve this rather
flat Film with his fine performance, but he
cannot save this film . The book was one
dimensional, so is the film. Beautiful and
glamorous from the surface, like a expensive
designer piece, but
nothing in it.
