So true

"I think of a man,
and I take away reason and accountability,"
in his own words, that's how best selling author of women's novels,
Melvin Udall explains his ability to write women characters that are
believable to women. Too true, Melvin. As Good As It Gets
is chuck-full of truisms like that.
Mark Andrus and James L. Brooks have written a
script that merges a successful neurotic with Archie Bunker, and it's
very entertaining. Who could have pulled this off but Jack
Nicholson? You hit the nail squarely on the head, Jack! And
talk about good casting, Helen Hunt is one of the few actresses (is it
all right to call a woman an actress any more?) who can look plain and attractive
at the same time. There are moments on the screen that she looks
beautiful and other moments where she looks like the mother of one of
the kids you grew up with; not the one that you fantasized about, mind
you.
I liked it. For me it's a TV movie.
I've never rented it, but every time it's on TV opposite everything I
don't want to see, I watch it. Always reluctantly, but I always
enjoy it.
Look at IMdb's
Memorable Quotes page. It just goes on and on.
