The only awards this film won, were Worst Actor and Worst
Remake or Sequel from the Razzie Awards, however, to its merit, it
was nominated for Best Cinematography at the Oscars
To prepare for his role as Doc Holliday (who suffered from
tuberculosis), Dennis Quaid lost over 30 pounds!
The other Wyatt Earp film of this time, Tombstone, was
being filmed nearby at the same time. Tombstone's production had
already bought up most of the appropriate period clothing of the region,
so Wyatt Earp's production was delayed until clothing was shipped
from Europe. That had to sting!
