Cross your traditional Dungeons
& Dragons game with your traditional anime
action/drama and you'll get Record of Lodoss War.
Despite different directors, this series remains constant in
its quality. The animation is pretty good, the story
is your traditional heroic knight, coming-of-age tale laced
with magic and unique characters. It is corny,
especially in the dialogue, but that is easily forgivable
when you consider that you're watching a movie about dragons
and fairies. All in all its a fun ride with a unique
style and great creature designs.
|
|
The story is too long and offers to many
changes for me to tell it all here, but rest assured you
will see lots of action, magic, creatures, and
heroism. Did you like Lord
of the Rings? Then you will like this anime
version of the same fantasy genre. By the way, you
will see several familiar themes if you're a Lord of the
Rings fan. It's still pretty unique though, So why isn't it
HUGE?
Well, the same things that make it good...holds it
back. If they had let themselves go and dared to break the
traditional pattern of a knight's tale, I would've been more
impressed.

They were so creative with their character
designs, yet so conformist with their story. If the
story's creativity matched the creativity of the
characters and their design, this film would've been truly
amazing. Nevertheless this is a great series worth
your time. I love it, and I own it on DVD.

PERSONALITY
TEST |
You're Orson! Loyal, strong, brave and one helluva
fighter, who wouldn't want you on their side? It's too bad you don't have better taste
in love interests, though...
What Record of Lodoss War Character Are You? brought to you by Quizilla
|
Orson,
my man! I guess that's a good one to get. He's a
bit of a whacko, but then I can get a bit kooky too when
demons are gettin' all up in my lady's business. Yeah
right. I should've gotten Parn just for my tendency to
get in over my head. Oh well, looks like this time I
came out ahead!
By the way, this is one of the
funniest tests I've taken, so enjoy the Parn-bashing goodness!
