SYNOPSIS and OPINION OF SERAPHIM FALLS by Joe De
Matteo
"SERAPHIM FALLS - a taut action film, an epic chase
and primal battle set in the mythic landscape of the
West," is the description found on the Seraphim
Falls' page on the Icon Entertainment International
website.
This
exciting thriller takes place some five years after
the end of the American Civil War. The war has
cost many everything, robbed them of the lives they
would have lived, if not for the war that ravaged
the country and its people.
Deep
in the snowy mountains of the American West, a man,
a mountain man, perhaps, Gideon (PIERCE BROSNAN) is
sitting in front of his fire, lost in thought. The
roar of a rifle and the bullet's impact in the snow
beside him brings him back to reality. The
second bullet hits him and he runs for cover...runs
for his life. Thus starts the epic and brutal
chase.
Driven by that demon - revenge, Colonel Morsman
Carver’s (LIAM NEESON) must hunt down and kill
Gideon, at all costs. The cost in human life
in the wake of the hunt in great. But the
brutality of the hunt is nothing compared to the
ghosts each man must face as they face down each
other.
Seraphim Falls will keep you at the edge of your
seat. The fast pace is only out stripped by
the brutality of revenge. With the impact of a
50-calibar bullet from a Henry rifle, each encounter
will have you hopping off the end of your seat.
Deborah Scott (Academy Award® winner TITANIC) has
done a spectacular job on Costume Designer.
The director of photography, John Toll (THE LAST
SAMURAI, VANILLA SKY, Academy Award® winner for
BRAVEHEART), lives up to expectations. The costumes
and photography enhance the performances of these
two master actors; the shear excitement you'll feel
is what happens when exceptional people put out a
high quality piece of entertainment. Hats off to
David Von Ancken and Abby Everett Jaques who wrote
the screenplay, and to Mr. Ancken (director) for a
superb film.
This
is a winner! Stop reading and go see it.
