So good, it hurts:
Swingers
by Christian De Matteo
HUGE
Lordy, lordy, I love this movie. From
the first time I saw it years ago, I’ve cracked up every time
since, loving the ridiculous antics of Jon Favreau and Vince
Vaughn, as they attempt to mack their way through LA and Las
Vegas nightlife.
Capturing a time period so brief that no one
else managed to grab it on film, Swingers takes place in the
very center of the Swing revival in LA, telling the story of
four hepcats trying to make it in Tinsel Town, a poor man’s
Ratpack.
The dialogue is brilliant, so accurate in its
stupidity that it frequently hurts for young males to listen to
the awful lines our heroes deliver. With a kickass
soundtrack and one hysterical scene after another, Swingers
moves quickly, studies its characters and tells a great story on
a very tight budget.
Comedies like this are a rare find, and this
one should be picked up at all costs.
