| The
mysterious half vampire (or Dampiel) known only as
"D" has returned to rescue a kidnapped young
girl from the clutches of a powerful vampire. Just
one problem: she doesn't want to be saved. Is it a
vampire's spell, or is she actually in love with her
kidnapper? D must carve his way through the
vampire lord's monstrous bodyguards to find out the
truth before a talented, rival band of vampire hunters
buries the answer permanently. |
| This
film is everything an anime fan could want!
Action, romance, creative characters, fierce battles,
etc. Add to that some top-drawer artwork and a
satisfying plot and you've got one HUGE anime.
Without going into detail, some critics have cited a
late-coming plot twist as
being this movie's downfall. I disagree. First of all, the
film unfolds slowly over time. The so-called
"plot twist" is simply the eventual conclusion
of the original plot. I believe that this type of
storytelling only made the film more dynamic and keeps the audience on its toes.
I like it when there are unanswered questions in the
beginning of a film that are only truly answered in the
end.

| I consider this film to be one of the best
anime I have ever seen
and it ranks high on my top ten...along with the
original. Rent
it, buy it, do whatever you have to do, but see this fantastic
representation of what modern anime can do.
