Children From Hell

| The women of Midwich are pregnant, including the town
virgin. Doctor Alan Chaffee believes the pregnancies have to do with the blackout. From 10 in the morning
until 4 in the afternoon everyone in the small town of Midwich was in a deep sleep. Something happened to the
women that day because they have given birth to children from Hell. Imagine children with
mind-controlling powers. Imagine that they have the same hair color, the same skin, and the same clothing.
The first thing that came to my mind was Hitler. This is John Capenter's
Village of the Damned. |

| There are superb performances from the adults and
children. Kirstie Alley plays government scientist Dr. Susan
Verner. Her character is icy and manipulative. This character is very different from the role in the
television series, "Cheers." At first I didn't think she
was going to do a good job in this movie. But then I realized she made a good show like
"Cheers" even better. Lindsey Halin gives a chilling performance as Mara,
the leader of the evil children. There is something wrong with the way she smiles and tilts her head.
Thomas Decker plays the confused and innocent David, the good one of the pack. |
| Then there is Christopher Reeve as Dr. Alan Chaffee.
See if you can spot the Superman reference in the beginning. This is a good script by David Himmelstein
which is enhanced by Christopher Reeve. Christopher Reeve gives a great performance with Lindsey Halin. In
the barn, they are arguing about the human race. Their conversation ranges from survival of the fittest to
conformity to individualism. |

John Carpenter has two significant roles in this movie. John Carpenter composed the music with Dave
Davies. Their theme for the evil children is playful and eerie at the same time. As a director, he has the
camera take the place of objects. You are going to watch the movie through the point of view of the alien
spaceship in the beginning and later on through the camera lens. Also watch how the camera follows the
characters at the playfair in the beginning of the movie. You get everything in this scene: character
biography, personality, isolation, and foreshadowing. You have to see the climatic battle in the barn in
this movie. The special visual effects by Bruce
Nicholson are at its best. Listen to the music as the beating of the drums follow the ticking of the clock.
John Carpenter's direction with editor Edward A. Warschika make this battle fast-paced and suspenseful. |

Carpenter made a mistake. He should've made this movie earlier. He
said that he was gonna make it
in the 80s, but he changed his mind, but the movie is like 80s
fashion. Does the film take place in the
80s, even though it was made in 95? At the very end, David look like
he was gonna turn evil, but the
sequel never came. I would like to see an update of the second part.
They should make it where
David meets new kids from different places like in Children of the
Damned, the sequel to the original
version. I hope they make the sequel a well-made film.

this was a great movie with
spectacular visual effects. lindsey haun is who stood out the most
to me though because she wa able to portray such a evil yet very
intelligent character at such a young age its just mind bogling.
during the whole movie i was on the edge of my seet wondering what
was going to happen next all the while yelling at my t.v. screen.i
think the most horrifying part of this movie is that something like
this could actually happen this movie is just indescribable and the
only way to get the full experience is to watch it and im glad i
did.
