Review by Mark Capitelli |
| In a word: Excellent. (No,
there won't be any corny "X-cellent" jokes) The
acting improved since the last film, the plot was a little less hokey,
and the special effects took a flying leap forward. |
| A government conspiracy causes the X-Men (a
militant group of people who have mutated into super-beings) to
defend the institute they call home and stamp out the force that
threatens all of mutant kind.
The one criticism I've heard from others has been that the
general audience was at a loss when it came to the finer points
of the film because they are not fans of the comic book.
My personal take on this is not that people don't know the
comic, but that they forgot the first movie.
This film does not revisit the origin of the X-Men.
Instead it just picks up where the last one left off. |
 |
| The only thing I can see the average
non-comic book reading audience missing is the very end of the
film. That, however, is completely inconsequential for
this film so I wouldn't let it bother you.
No matter who you are, you will like this film. Go see
it, bring the family, have a good time, don't eat too much
popcorn. |
