Reviews:
Young Frankenstein
by JOE. De Matteo
HUGE
"Great knockers!"
"Oh, thank you."
My two favorite comedies are It's
a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (is that enough Mads?)
and Young Frankenstein.
Jane Feinberg and Mike Fenton,
the Casting people on this film did an outstanding
job. Now we all know more about Gene Hackman's
personality, but what a shock at the time to see him
playing the hermit monk.
The Special Edition DVD is a
must have: Mel Brooks commentary, the out-takes and
bloopers-it's great. Not to mention the fact that
DVD technology is especially great with Black and White
movies.
Hey, watch it again tonight.

| Trivia:
Gene Hackman's in this movie? Yessir, he
is. Although it might be fun to let you guess where, I'll just
tell you. He plays the blind hermit that tries to befriend the
monster (Boyle) by offering him lunch. He is heavily bearded so
it's hard to tell, but listen to that Popeye Doyle voice and you'll know
for sure.
