After thoroughly enjoying Road Trip, a feeble
minded friend recommended Empire Records.
Let me tell you...being titillated by high school
girls and being made aware of the problems of high school kids in
general, is something I'm a long way beyond.
For the mature male, it's what National Geographic must be to a
retired explorer: you'll see places, although once attainable, that
you've no chance of getting to ever again.
However, with the exception of one morbid, chatty
scene, Empire Records
is made well and moves right along.
If you're a male over 30, my recommendation is to
skip this one. If you're
under 20, you'll find it fun and sexy and enjoy it.
Between 25 and 35, your levels of maturity and denial
will determine how
much or whether you like it. If
you feel it's the best picture of the year and you're 28, seek help.
Oh, and stay away from school yards.

Empire Records

I first taped this film as I liked Liv
Tyler (who fairly obviously is in it) and then
discovered it to be an incredible film. Now, I
tape a lot of late night films and I didn't
have very high expectation of this one but I
was very pleasantly surprised to find this
original and funny teen film. It's nothing
more than it says it is but does that
superbly. With some lovable and hilarious
characters, some great catchphrases (damn the
man save the empire!) and a feel good ending
this film will make you laugh and above all,
make you want to work in a record store!
