A Score is a
Score, but Some Scores...well...

Super
De Niro, Brando and the new kid on the block, Norton,
well done. Imagine Yoda doing a crime drama, but
Frank Oz gets a well done too.
Yes this is a twist of an often used plot, but so are
most stories. The trick is when they're so good they get
you involved and The Score did that for me.
It is truly a movie that has its own identity. I
liked it.
Ed Norton (I refuse to say anything about the
Honeymooneres, because I'm not that shallow) is
on the road to stardom; I like him and I hope he doesn't
slip up. Robert De Niro plays a twist on a character
he's played before, but it works and his performance is
top notch. Marlon Brando is excellent...what an
actor. I only realized this in retrospect, during The
Score I wasn't aware of Marlon Brando for a minute; I
was completely taken in by Max Baron.
Hey, I can't think of Marlon Brando without remembering
The Freshman. Now when was the last time you
watched that? Go see The Score
first.
Another thing: every time I look at The Score movie
poster I do a double take: doesn't Norton look like
Pacino? Take a quick look, see what I mean?
(I love to hear Marlon Brando stories, got any good
ones? jdematteo@hugereveiws.com)
