I should start this brief comment
on the horridness of Superman III by pointing out
that the third film in the franchise is not a Superman
movie.It’s
as misnamed as it is miscast.Superman III is about Richard Pryor.Granted, Richard Pryor is a comedic genius, but
he doesn’t belong in a movie that has anything to do
with a man in a blue suit and red cape who can fly.But he is funny.Unfortunately,
the movie is not.No
Superman film should be a comedy.The problem with this one is that they tried for
comedy, and fell short somewhere around the “walk”
and “don’t walk” symbols fighting it out in the
electronic street sign.Superman III is perhaps the biggest
existing testament to how poor a director Richard Lester
is, especially compared to Richard Donner.This movie is awful.
