Few things give me the same pleasure as a film.
Especially one viewed in a movie theater, empty or
crowded, good or bad, there’s something magical and wonderful
about film. Film is an escape and yet also one of art’s most potent
forms of cautionary media.
A movie is alive before you, and this makes its success
all the more important. When
a film is good, it glows before you, triumphant, striking and
vibrant. But when
it is bad, then you must sit and watch a living thing die a two
hour death before you. If
you listen close enough, sometimes you can even hear the
director cry for help. This
is a truly sad thing, but it’s all part of the movie
experience and that experience is one I try to have one, two and
even three times a week.
Discussing movies is equally as
magical and wonderful for me, and this is why this site makes me
so happy. I often
strike up random conversations with people about film and the
usual result is exhilarating and fun.
Of course, there are other times when the result is
angering because the person decides to tell me how Blair Witch 2
was so much better than The Blair Witch Project. But
what’s conversation without disagreement… even if the person
is obviously incapable of rational thought.
I find people’s movie taste often
reflects where they are coming from, so here’s a bit about me.
I am 23 years old and the Assistant Director of
Admissions at the College
of Mount Saint Vincent, the same college I myself graduated
from. I am also a
grad student at Columbia University’s School of the Arts, in
the Writing division. I
am a writer and am currently at work on a crime novel.
Reading and writing are my other passions along side
film. I suppose I
am just a fan of entertainment.
Higher entertainment though, in that I mostly despise
television. You
will note I am also somewhat opinionated, a fact that should
cause some good discussion.
I truly hope you enjoy this site
and get as much out of it as you can.
Email me or any of us here with any suggestions or ideas
you might have for the site. We love to hear from other movie buffs.
Please use our site like a diner
counter after you’ve seen a flick.
Throw out your comments and we’ll do our damnedest to
give you a spirited exchange and maybe even chuck a piece of
warm apple pie at you if your really off-base.
Feel
free to chuck it back. |
